Treatment

Allow one hour for the first visit which includes a thorough pulse reading, tongue exam, physical examination and medical history. If you are coming for acute pain, allow 1 1/2 hours for the first visit since I will do a treatment to control the pain.

Subsequent visits will take 45 minutes. Come dressed comfortably. If you think you will become hungry during the treatment eat a snack before arriving. The typical visit consists of an update on your condition, taking your pulse and looking at your tongue. Based on that information I will do an acupuncture treatment.

Most people find acupuncture treatment refreshing and relaxing and do not experience pain when the very fine hair like needles are inserted. You may feel sensations such as heaviness, tingling or a general sense of warmth. Only disposable needles are used.

After treatment it is a good idea to avoid stress and excitement for several hours.

The number of treatments needed will depend on the severity and duration of the condition being treated.

Even after a condition has resolved it is a good idea to come for regular acupuncture treatments every 4 to 6 weeks. This helps you to maintain good health.
